Valleres 5/1 (B365) – Sandown 14:25 – 1pt win 2nd -1pt
Alan King appears to target this Grade 2 race, having sent six runners to do battle since 2008 and returning with five victories. Today he runs VALLERES who has already gone from 13/2 in to 5/1 in the early markets. He won over this trip at Wetherby on hurdles debut and wasn’t disgraced when second at Ludlow over slightly further last time out, a race where he made a couple of jumping errors which I think came as the ground was a little on the quick side.
His four rivals are also proven on soft ground and the favourite in-particular was impressive last time out (but hails from a yard who are 0-38 in the last 2 weeks) so he will have to be at his best in order to gain victory, but with the slower conditions and drop back in trip both positives I am happy to have a play on Valleres especially considering his trainer record in the race.
