NAP Solomon Grey 6/4 (coral) – Market Rasen 15:15 – 2pts win WON (SP 9/4) +4.5pts
Trainer Dan Skelton boasts a 30% winning strike rate and level stakes profit of almost £25 over the last twelve months at Market Rasen and looks to have a great chance of enhancing that record with Solomon Grey. An eleven length victory sandwiched between two solid placed efforts behind If The Cap Fits looks to be the best form on offer and he should be capable of further improvement after only three runs over hurdles.
Apasionado is a previous course and distance winner but has an eleven month absence to overcome so the biggest danger looks to be Treshnish who won well last time out, has only been upped 3lbs and races for the in-form Sue Smith.
NB Steel Native 5/1 (B365) – Ffos Las 16:40 – 2pts win Lost -2pts
Steel Native needs to improve on recent runs but is very interesting switching back to the smaller obstacles and with both career victories coming here at Ffos Las, one over todays’ trip and on heavy ground, he is taken to gain another victory today.
Wayoftheworld improved to finish third last time out and is now 8lbs below last winning mark, although he hasn’t even made the frame in seven prior runs at the course which is an obvious concern, so the bigger danger could be bottom-weight Sounds Of Italy who showed some promise when fourth over a longer trip last time out.
3B Krackatoa King 13/2 (PP) – Ffos Las 16:10 – 2pts win Lost -2pts
Krackatoa King drops back down in class and returns to a trip where he has won twice and placed twice from five. His trainer Kerry Lee continues in good form (three winners from six over fences in the last two weeks) and she looks to have a great chance of adding to that tally here.
Rebecca Curtis does well with her runners here so Mystical Knight is worthy of a mention, although he will need to improve on recent runs to get involved, while Big Meadow was a convincing winner last time out and could be a danger if handling the 7lbs rise.
A final mention goes to trainer P Bowen who has won this race for the last two years and runs Alf N Dor who has placed in three of his last five. Another who will need to improve but isn’t dismissed for a trainer who has a good record at the course and in-particular this race.
